Scott and Fogg quickest in testing for BNT V8 final at Pukekohe

Former champion Kayne Scott and Angus Fogg topped the times during testing for this weekend’s grand final for the BNT V8s at Pukekohe.

Although lap times during the two official test sessions for the BNT V8s don’t count towards qualifying, Scott’s first time of 1:01.602 was a handy 0.09 seconds quicker than Fogg who currently holds sixth place overall. Craig Baird was third fastest in the first session, with Andy Booth and current series leader John McIntyre completing the top five.

In the second session Fogg was quickest with 1:01.372 and Scott had a time of 1:01.541. McIntyre was third quickest with 1:01.676 with Booth and Baird again making it the same five fastest drivers.

With McIntyre holding the championship lead with 1022 points compared to Scott’s 984, the competition for pole position during Saturday’s final official qualifying session is going to be intense. The two test sessions on the Friday of each round of the BNT V8s is essentially the final opportunity for teams to refine car set-up to suit track conditions for the weekend’s three races.

Official qualifying for the final round of the BNT V8s Championship starts at 1:35 pm on Saturday with a three-part qualifying structure. All competitors run in the first 20-minute session then the fastest 20 complete a 15-minute session. The top ten effectively run a top ten shoot-out for a final 15 minute session. The first 12-lap race scheduled for 4:55 pm. On Sunday the BNT V8s’ 16-lap race starts at 11:25 am with the 20-lap reverse grid race scheduled for 3:55 pm. All three races have rolling starts.
